Project Overview
Restoring A Critical Wastewater Asset
Along with many other vertical wastewater structures, lift and pump stations are critical to the wastewater system, preventing backups, mitigating public health hazards, and maintaining wastewater flow to treatment plants.
Infrastructure Rehabilitation USA renewed a large lift station, measuring 35′ x 22′ x 14′ that was in desperate need of restoration. The lift station exhibited common signs of age and deterioration, sewer gas corrosion, and excess inflow and infiltration entering the system through cracks and leaks.
The CIP Liner was installed to create a monolithic, structurally enhanced, corrosion-resistant composite lining system eliminating infiltration and inflow pathways, protecting the asset for decades, and reducing downstream treatment expenses.

From Deterioration to Long-Term Protection
Located in West Texas, this lift station operated in an environment conducive to elevated hydrogen sulfide (H₂S) concentrations, accelerating corrosion and increasing the risk of long-term structural deterioration.
To address these challenges, The CIP Liner was installed throughout the structure, creating a continuous, corrosion-resistant fiberglass liner with an integrated impermeable membrane that permanently isolates the existing substrate from aggressive wastewater environments. The completed rehabilitation restored structural protection, eliminated infiltration and inflow pathways, and significantly extended the service life of this critical wastewater assets.

The CIP liner utilizes a continuous fiberglass material paired with an impermeable membrane, chemically bonded to form a single, monolithic barrier. This seamless structure provides long-term protection against hydrogen sulfide (H₂S) sewer gas corrosion, inflow and infiltration (I&I), structural deterioration, and surface degradation.
Inflow and infiltration introduce excess water into wastewater systems, unnecessarily increasing the volume sent to treatment facilities. This added burden can lead to sanitary sewer overflows, operational disruptions, and significantly higher maintenance and treatment costs for municipalities.
By mitigating these risks, the CIP Liner was able to not only restore this structure’s integrity but also protect the communities who utilize it and the workers who operate it.
Installation Methodology
Engineered for Complex Geometry
Due to the size, depth, and internal configuration of the lift station, including the presence of a large baffle wall, the rehabilitation was completed in a series of controlled installation phases.
Temporary hand-built wood framing was utilized to section the lift station into manageable work areas, allowing fiberglass panels to be installed and cured in sequence. Using inflation bladders filled with heat steam in conjunction with ambient curing, the individual liner sections chemically bonded together to create a continuous, corrosion-resistant, and structurally reinforced composite lining system throughout the structure.

Project Results
A Protected Asset, Ready for the Next Century
This lift station was experiencing elevated hydrogen sulfide concentrations, accelerating corrosion, and increasing risks of long-term structural deterioration. Before installation of the CIP Liner, the structure’s surface showed wear due to age and environment. After installation, the structure is permanently bonded to the continuous fiberglass liner with an impermeable membrane, blocking corrosive sewer gases, eliminating I&I, and reducing risks of operational disturbances.
